One the many problems that America faces today is its high crime rate . America has one of the highest crime rates in the world. Punishment is a tool if used properly will discourage crime instead of encourage it. Modren prisons are much like resorts with bars. Many inmates enjoy luxuries such as bigscreen tvs and free education which is a major reason why our prisons have become overcrowded. Criminals such as serial killers, rapists, child molesters, and human traffickers which are among the worst scum on Earth live a life of luxury at the expense of the taxpayers.This makes me wonder about the logic behind prison.Why hardworking citizens such as myself have to work three full time jobs just to pay rent and put food on my table where a man who takes a child's life get to live on easy street.
It is well known that a portion of our tax dollars goes to housing these soulless degenerates. In my opinion any person who decides to commit murder, rape, or other violent crimes against an innocent man,woman or child deserves to meet justice swiftly so they are not able to escape and commit these crimes again.

If my neighbor burned down my toolshed I can burn down his toolshed. The Romans would crucify thieves and brigands. In Europe they would use a gibbet which would mean a man would starve to death hanging in a cage.

Sharia law which is now used now in many Islamic nations is extremely effective. A thief is brought before a local qadi. The qadi will then determine whether the accusation is legitimate as well as the motive . If the thief stole because his family was staring then he would receive a lashing otherwise he would lose a digit.
Being a Political Science major who plans to have a career in politics I have come up with a new solution to America's crime problem. A person deemed too dangerous to live in society shall be giving the choice of execution, military service in times of war, or donating his body to medical and scientific research. Using animals for the purpose of determining side effects of drugs, chemicals or cosmetic product is ineffective and cruel. Instead using humans as test subjects we would grant is the ability to observe first hand the reaction of drugs, chemicals and cosmetics . If the criminal whom chose to be used for scientific research survives the experiment. He will be granted a full pardon .
Other crimes such as larceny, drug trafficking, and vandalism deserve public lashing. The amount of lashes would depend on the severity and occurence of the crime. Pain and humilation are among the most ideal methods in crime control. Criminals will think twice before commiting crimes in the future .
